last week we had wind and rain but for this short walk of about 7miles in ryedale we were blessed with blue skies and sunshine, and a pleasant breeze. our route took us from marton via the villages of great edstone and normanby over three small hills in this otherwise flat landscape between the howardian hills and the tabular hills of the north york moors. 4 hills, 3 villages, 2 churches, and 1 pub all in just 7 miles! thursday sept 6th for the first time in a few weeks, suzie was able to join me for this thursday's walk. however things didn't go quite to plan because my car displayed a 'low tyre-pressure warning light' near langton. the tyres looked ok, but not wishing to be caught out with a flat or puncture we turned back. so instead of 'kirkham revisited' our walk became 'hull bridge revisited' from leven, alongside canal and river, returning by bus from tickton, a repeat of the walk i did a few weeks ago! sunday sept 9th it was overcast at the start and again at the finish, but for the majority of this 8mile walk in the peak district the weather was bright and breezy. ten of us completed the walk from longshaw along froggatt edge, then down into the derwent valley. after visiting padley manor and chape
